After two years of annotations on Ingress objects we switched every cluster to Gateway API. The split between the platform team owning the Gateway and app teams owning their HTTPRoutes was the real win.
Biggest gotcha: listeners decide which namespaces may attach. Get that wrong and routes are silently ignored.
